LOTUSPHERE, ORLANDO, FL. January 18, 2010: Cooperteam today announced the release of Version 2.7 of Desktop Manager, a tool for optimizing the administration of IBM Lotus Notes collaboration software clients.
The new release incorporates a fundamental change in the platform’s architecture. Version 2.7 makes use of local databases which are regularly synchronized in the background with Desktop Manager central database, enabling the application to run locally on the end user’s workstation and perform all the necessary actions without needing a server connection.
With this new architecture, Lotus Notes software availability is further improved for the end-user since Desktop Manager works transparently and is no longer impacted by client connectivity issues with the server.
The administration of Lotus Notes is more efficient as modifications - launched by either Lotus Notes Administrators or Helpdesk staff - are applied quickly and do not require a re-start of the Notes client. Support calls are reduced, and Notes Administrators can more efficiently take care of administration.
Significant new features in this release of Desktop Manager include: Fully transparent execution for users with the automatic ‘self-run’ functionality in local mode Continuous update of client settings in Notes due to background synchronization Priority task execution for administration tasks identified as critical Streamlined task creation with the most frequently used tasks now available as easy to use templates Replication traffic auditing on a per-user and per-database basis Improved database audit features
